Andy Flickner is owner and director of Bach to Rock Carmel as well as an instructor for piano and guitar lessons. Andy began his instrument training at the age of 8, later going on to study music with David Kaiserman at the University of Louisville. Kaiserman was himself a student of Sascha Gorodnitski at The Juilliard and ultimately retired as chair of the Piano Department at Northwestern University. Being a pragmatic artist, Andy decided to pursue studies in electrical engineering and received both his bachelors and masters from Purdue University. Andy continued to study music throughout his 25-year career with R&D Engineering and Management, where he earned six US patents. He and his son, Stephen, formed a duo and regularly perform in local venues. Andy is a passionate piano and guitar player and is grateful for the ability to share his talents and knowledge with his many students at B2R. With his wife and business partner, Jennifer, at his side, Andy cultivates an energized and joyful learning environment for everyone at B2R.
Staff & Music Teachers
Jennifer Flickner is owner and director of Bach to Rock Carmel and is loving every musical moment. Having graduated from Purdue University with a degree in elementary education, Jennifer has a strong background in teaching little ones and doing administrative work. Jennifer spent 8 years teaching in Pike Township, before taking time off to raise her four wonderful children. She later took a position at University High School, where she focuses on event planning as a part of the Admissions Office staff. Jennifer’s background in education, helps her to provide guidance and training to all staff members at B2R in the best pedagogical practices for teaching the varying ages of students we serve. In an effort to make sure all students and staff have a wonderful experience, Jennifer spends each day ensuring B2R is well-organized and smoothly operated.
Asha W. sings weekly in a professional vocal ensemble locally in Carmel. She graduated with a degree in Commercial Music in May of 2017 from Millikin University. While receiving her degree, she focused on music theory and arrangement, as well as studio technique and production. Asha put her education into practice by working for First Step Records in Decatur, IL as a studio engineer. At B2R, Asha serves as a piano and voice instructor.
Adam B. studied music at Berklee College of Music and previously worked as the Musical Director for Carnival Cruise Line. He spent almost four years ensuring outstanding musical performances for the Carnival Entertainment program. Adam went on to become a recording engineer, studio musician, and producer for Last Day Productions and is an expert at arranging and producing music. Adam joins B2R as a band coach and private lessons instructor for piano, guitar, bass, and drums.
Ashton D. joins B2R as a guitar, bass, piano, music production and rock band teacher. With a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Columbia College-Chicago, Ashton has been seen performing across Indianapolis, most notable as the song writer and bassist for the band Apunxta. In addition to music, he has been an Assistant Lighting Designer for the past six years, specializing in running live shows including larger shows and festivals.
Bailey Y. has been playing the violin for over ten years and has performed with numerous symphony and ballet orchestras in Kentucky and Indiana. He has also been a counselor at the internationally recognized Interlochen Center for the Arts. Bailey is currently working towards a Bachelor of Music studying Violin Performance at Butler University. He performs with the Butler Symphony Orchestra and his very own Castillo Quartet. Bailey is also a teaching fellow at the Butler Community Arts School and joins the B2R team as a strings and piano instructor.
Claire P. is a pianist with more than twelve years of performance experience and several years of instructional experience teaching piano and voice as the Director of the Stone Soup Children’s Musical Theatre. She has also been a counselor at the world-renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts. Claire is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Butler University under the instruction of distinguished pianist Dr. Kate Boyd. Claire joins us at B2R as a piano instructor.
Eesha B. is a pianist and vocalist with over fifteen years of training in both disciplines and five years of experience teaching students of all ages. She completed her Associate Diploma (ARCT) through the Royal Conservatory of Music in May of 2015, focusing on Vocal Performance. Eesha has also studied Indian classical music for several years and enjoys composing and arranging music. At B2R, she is a piano and vocal instructor as well as an early childhood teacher.
Emily S. is currently pursing her music degree from Coastal Carolina University as a double major in piano and voice performance. For her college education, Emily studies under both Dr. Tim Koch and Dr. Phillip Powell and performs regularly with the Coastal Chamber Choir. At Carmel High School Emily has served as director for numerous productions, such as The Sparrow and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Outside of music, she has worked as a swim instructor and life guard at Goldfish Swim School. Emily joins B2R as a piano, voice, and early childhood education teacher.
Emily T. received her Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs Management from IUPUI in Indianapolis. While studying in school, Emily held two internships with Music for All, a non-profit organization focused on providing musical experiences and opportunities to students around the country. Emily is an alumna of the Carmel High School Marching Band and Winterguard program, and has gone on to teach students in the Carmel JV program as well at Noblesville High School for several years. Emily has also worked with younger students for several years with the Extended School Enrichment program through Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation. Emily joins B2R as Assistant Director.
Emma H. joins B2R as a drums, piano, and rock band teacher. With a master’s degree in Percussion Performance from Butler University, Emma has taught in several capacities such as the Front Ensemble Technician with the Ben Davis and Prospect High School Marching Bands, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Percussion Techniques at Butler University. In addition to teaching, Emma has performed with Butler’s Ballet Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and Dance Department. She also serves as a Volunteer Section Percussionist for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
Griffin M. is currently pursuing his degree in Music Education from Butler University with a focus in Choral and General Studies and a minor in Music Industry Studies and Diverse Learners. While in school, Griffin has served as a Choral Music Education Intern at both North Central High School and Lawrence Central High School, as well as a General Music Education Intern at Towne Meadow Elementary School and a Conducting and Teaching Intern with the Indianapolis Children’s Choir. Throughout his internships, Griffin worked with numerous men’s, women’s, and mixed choirs. Additionally, he has taught private lessons through the Butler Community Arts School to a wide range of ages and skill levels. Griffin joins B2R as a voice and piano teacher.
Gwen S. is a passionate vocalist and pianist with 7 years of experience performing in numerous musicals and operas in both Indiana and Italy. She holds a degree from Butler University in Vocal Performance with a secondary emphasis in piano. While pursuing her Master’s in Music from Indiana University, Gwen is performing with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and throughout the local community. At B2R Gwen joins the team as a vocal, piano, and early childhood music instructor.
Joseph F. is a professional DJ and guitarist who has performed across the country. He is currently DJ Production Manager for el-live productions. This role has him performing, curating music for hotels, managing bands, and training new DJs. Joseph has also served as bandleader for the The Joseph Filipow Trio, playing jazz, R&B, funk, soul, and Americana on the Carnival Cruise Lines. Joseph attended Indiana University for jazz studies and joins B2R as a DJ, guitar, ukulele, and rock band instructor
Justin B. is a dedicated euphoniumist who has performed with numerous ensembles, including the Northwestern Symphonic Wind Ensemble and The Cavaliers Marching Drum and Bugle Corps. With 18 years of musical experience and a degree in Music Education and Euphonium Performance, Justin has taught in many different capacities. He was previously the Choral Music Director of Northwestern’s Phi Mu Alpha Chapter, a Brass Technician Intern with The Cavaliers, and a private lesson and student teacher for the surrounding Indianapolis school systems. Justin joins B2R as a guitar, brass, and piano teacher.
Karin R. holds a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree with a minor in economics from DePauw University. She has been studying cello since the age of four and has an extensive performance background, having played in orchestras, chamber groups, operas, musicals, weddings, and church services. As an arts administrator, Karin has worked for the Anderson Symphony Orchestra as the Summer Office Intern and at her alma mater as the Arts Administration Graduate Intern. Karin now serves as Assistant Director at B2R.
Kathryn T. has been playing piano and violin for over 15 years, competing in numerous competitions and performing with various orchestras across Indiana. She has spent her summers at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp as a counselor and performer for their radio broadcast Festival Orchestra performances. Kathryn is currently working towards a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at Butler University. She performs with the Butler Symphony Orchestra, the Butler Ballet Orchestra, and the Butler Chamber Orchestra, as well as her string quartet.
Laurel C. joins B2R as a voice, violin, piano and early childhood lesson instructor. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Indiana University and is pursuing her Master’s in Music Education from Butler University. While pursuing her degrees, Laurel has served as a music director and educator in both NYC and Los Angeles, teaching theater and dance.
Madison W. holds a Bachelor of Music with a double major in economics from DePauw University. While obtaining her degree, Madison worked for Drum Corps International as a Sales and Business Development Intern and Cadenza Artists, a Los Angeles based artist management company. Additionally, she assisted in curating community events that brought awareness to the arts. As an avid oboist and saxophonist, Madison actively plays in small ensembles and community bands in central Indiana. Madison now serves as Assistant Director at B2R.
Mason S. is a musician of over 10 years and is currently pursuing his degree in Music Technology from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. During his time in school, Mason has performed, composed, and arranged music for several instrumental ensembles of varying genres, including both classical and rock. Mason has spent the last 7 years enhancing his guitar skills and currently studies with Sandy Williams. Subsequently, Mason has extensive experience working with younger children and currently works at Edge Adventures, assisting both kids and adults through the arial courses. Mason joins B2R as a guitar, bass, piano, and rock band teacher.
Pam M. has served as a vocal coach in the Indianapolis area for over 25 years. She has a degree in Music Education that she received from University of Indianapolis and went on to teach music in Warren and Washington Townships. Pam now is an account executive at Art to Remember, where she helps to enrich local schools’ arts programs through fundraising and marketing. Pam has brought her decades of experience to B2R as one of our vocal and piano instructors.
Patrick G. earned his bachelor’s in music and religion from Wabash College. He spent time teaching music at Kingsway Christian School and acted as their middle school band director. Patrick has spent the past 7 years performing with his church band as a keyboardist and played for 2 years as a trombonist in the Red Card Regiment for the Indy Eleven Rally Band. Patrick joins the B2R team as a piano and brass instructor.
Patrick W. joins B2R as a guitar and bass instructor. With a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies and Guitar, Partick has gained teaching experience as a guitar instructor at the Butler Community Arts School and Michelle’s Studio. With a love for all things jazz, he has also held the role of Teaching Assistant for the Butler Youth Jazz Program and Butler Summer Youth Jazz Camp. In addition to teaching, he has also performed in several jazz ensmebles and musical pits throughout the Indianapolis community.
Rebecca W. joins B2R as a violin and piano teacher, bringing years of experience teaching music in both a private and group setting. While earning her bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Performance from Butler University, Rebecca studied violin with Larry Shapiro and participated in a master class with renowned violinist Tessa Lark. Additionally, Rebecca studied abroad with Dr. Sue Collins during her time at the University of Tasmania in Australia. Over the past several years, Rebecca has volunteered teaching local middle school and high school students who need help with music outside of the classroom.
Sophie S. is a fabulous vocalist and pianist who has performed with Butler University’s Choir and Opera Theater, The Vienna Summer Music Festival, and throughout the local community. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Choral/General Music Education. During her studies she has worked as a private voice instructor, participated as a Teaching Fellow with the Butler Community Arts School, served as the Assistant Director at Cor Jesu Academy’s Choir Camp, and served as a class Director of Early Childhood Music Classes at the Indianapolis Children’s Choir. Sophie joins B2R as a voice, piano, and early childhood education teacher.
Stephen F. has been playing music for over 20 years. He is primarily a drummer but has a love for guitar, keys and vocal arts. For the past 5 years, Stephen has been focused on writing, producing and recording his own music, and previously worked in Los Angeles as a recording artist. At B2R Stephen teaches drums, rock band and music production.
Stephen W. graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor’s in Music Media Production and a Master of Music in Composition. During his time at Ball State, he spent time teaching his own undergraduate course in music theory and worked to create ear training software. Stephen is a nationally recognized expert in music theory, who has spent time presenting at multiple national conferences. He joins us at B2R as a piano and guitar instructor.
Suzette H. is a talented vocalist and pianist who holds a Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance from DePauw University. During her time at DePauw, Suzette performed in several operas and musicals, including Street Scene, Le Mozze di Figaro, Sister Act, Cendrillon, and Hansel and Gretel. She was also a member of several choral ensembles, such as DePitches A Cappella Ensemble and Resonance Ensemble. In addition to her extensive performance experience, Suzette has experience teaching voice through her time as an A Cappella Group Director at a middle school in her hometown. Suzette joins B2R as a voice, piano, and early childhood teacher.
Tyler T. grew up in Portland, Oregon surrounded by music. He began playing drum set at the age of 7. He was able to perform with the Jazz Bands, Drum line, concert bands and percussion ensembles when he moved to Indiana for high school. Deciding to pursue his passion in music, he graduated from Ball State University in 2019 with a major in Music Production and a minor in Jazz Performance. Tyler now teaches at B2R as a percussion instructor and band coach.
